Wuxi Weather in June

June: sticky and showery

June brings summer heat to Wuxi, with highs around 30°C and warm nights near 22°C. The air feels humid, and frequent rain can interrupt a day out. It's the start of the plum-rain season, when long spells of damp weather are common across Jiangsu.

The gardens around Huishan Ancient Town still make a pleasant outing between showers. For a longer walk, keep to shaded paths and leave Taihu's open waterfront for a clearer stretch of weather. Heavy rain can make a full day outdoors tiring, so don't build your whole visit around hiking or lakeside views.

Festivals and holiday crowds

The Dragon Boat Festival falls in May or June, depending on the lunar calendar. It's a public holiday in China, and Wuxi may feel busier around the break. Look for seasonal zongzi, sticky rice parcels wrapped in leaves, at local food shops.

If you hate crowds, avoid travelling during the holiday itself. June is generally less sought-after than October, Wuxi's best-rated month, but holiday demand can push up transport and hotel prices. Outside the break, you're more likely to find a calmer city, though the damp weather is a trade-off.

Make rain work for you

Travelling with kids? Keep the Wuxi Museum or a meal of local xiaolongbao in reserve for a wet afternoon. The museum gives you a comfortable indoor stop, while the soup-filled dumplings are a local favourite.

For a practical lakeside tip, take the bus to Yuantouzhu only when the forecast looks settled. Its Taihu views are the point of the visit, and cloud or rain can hide them. If showers roll in, head back toward central Wuxi rather than waiting out a grey afternoon by the water.
