Warm days by the Caspian

June feels warm and sunny in Baku, with highs around 26°C and long daylight for exploring. The sea breeze can make the waterfront feel cooler, but afternoons in the Old City's narrow lanes can still feel sticky.

It's a good month for the Maiden Tower, the Icherisheher walls and a stroll along the Caspian Boulevard. Save longer walks around the Flame Towers and Highland Park for later in the day. Rain is limited, but June is more humid than May, so a steep uphill walk can feel tiring.

June dates and city life

National Salvation Day and Armed Forces Day both fall in June. You may see official events or closures around government sites, while the city keeps its usual pace elsewhere. Check local notices if your plans include central squares or museums.

Travelling with kids? The Boulevard's wide paths and Caspian views make an easier outing than a long tour through the Old City in the afternoon.

Crowds and local tips

June is the start of summer, so Baku is generally busier and pricier than in May. It's still a useful choice if you want warm days without July's drier, hotter feel. For quieter streets and better value, May or September can be more appealing.

Take the Baku Funicular up to Highland Park near sunset. You'll avoid much of the climb and get a clear view over the waterfront and Flame Towers. Afterward, look for qutab, a thin filled flatbread, around Icherisheher rather than stopping at the first café on the Boulevard.
