November feels cool

Wuxi's November days are mild, but evenings turn chilly. Expect highs around 17°C and lows near 8°C, with rain on about nine days. The air can feel damp, and cloud often softens the light over Taihu Lake.

It's a good month for Huishan Ancient Town, where you can wander old lanes without summer heat. On clearer days, head to Yuantouzhu for lake views and autumn colour. Rain can make lakeside walks feel cold, so save longer outdoor outings for dry spells. November isn't ideal for lingering on a boat deck or planning a full day outdoors.

Events and quieter streets

November has no major national holiday in China, so you'll miss the big Golden Week rush that fills Wuxi in early October. Weekends can still bring local visitors to Yuantouzhu and Huishan, but weekdays are calmer. Hotel rates and queues are usually gentler than in October, Wuxi's best-known month for visiting.

There may be autumn chrysanthemum displays around Huishan, but dates and events vary by year. Check local listings if you're making a trip around a particular show. Travelling with kids? The quieter lanes at Huishan are easier to explore than they are during holiday crowds.

Make the most of a cool day

For a city break, mix indoor stops with short walks. Wuxi Museum gives you a warm place to spend a rainy afternoon, while Nanchang Street is pleasant for an evening stroll when the weather's dry. Try Wuxi xiaolongbao, steamed buns with a characteristically sweet filling, at a local restaurant.

A useful local tip: pair Huishan Ancient Town with nearby Xihui Park rather than crossing town between sights. The park's paths can be damp after rain, so stick to the paved routes if the ground is slick.
