June weather by the river

June feels warm, not scorching, with mild evenings around Ljubljana's old town. You can wander the riverside cafés, climb up to Ljubljana Castle, or cycle through Tivoli Park without July's stronger heat. But rain comes often, and clouds can linger, so outdoor plans may need to shift. May is wetter; July is hotter and still gets plenty of rain.

Events and holiday dates

Crowds and local tips

June is a good shoulder between quieter spring days and the busier peak of July and August. You'll see more visitors around Prešeren Square and the Triple Bridge, and accommodation tends to cost more than in cooler months. Still, it's usually easier to enjoy the city than in high summer.

If you hate crowds, take a walk along the Ljubljanica toward Špica, where the riverbanks feel calmer than the central promenade. For a local bite, stop for štruklji, rolled dumplings, at the Central Market area; the market is quieter later in the day, though stalls may be closing.
