June feels warm without the heavier heat of midsummer. Afternoons reach about 26°C, while evenings cool down to around 15°C. Rain is common, so a shower can interrupt a walk, but it rarely defines the whole visit.

The long days suit sightseeing around Upper Town and the Dolac Market, with time left for a riverside stroll. Take a break indoors if the afternoon feels sticky, and don't count on an uninterrupted day outdoors. For a day trip, nearby Zadar and Split usually have better weather in June.

Festivals and crowds

INmusic Festival brings bands to Jarun, a lake area in southwest Zagreb, and Zagreb Pride is also usually held in June. Event dates vary, so check the schedule if either is a reason for your trip.

If you hate crowds, avoid staying right by Jarun during INmusic. June is a popular time to visit, with more visitors and often higher accommodation prices than in quieter winter months. It's still generally less crowded than July and August, when many travellers head to Croatia.

June is a good month for a city break, with warm weather for walking and plenty of daylight. But frequent rain can make long outdoor plans frustrating. Keep a museum or café stop in mind for a wet spell; the Museum of Broken Relationships in Upper Town is an easy one to pair with nearby sights.

Travelling with kids? A tram ride to Jarun gives you room to stretch your legs away from the centre. If you're there for INmusic, allow time to walk from the tram stop to the festival site. Back in town, try štrukli, a baked cheese pastry served at local restaurants.
