Nanning feels warm in October, but it's less sticky than September. Days reach about 28°C, while evenings cool to around 18°C. Rain still falls on some days, though it's drier than September, so a shower needn't spoil your plans.

You can explore the shaded paths and temples at Qingxiu Mountain, or stroll around Nanhu Park. After rain, watch your footing on Qingxiu Mountain's stone steps. Save long, exposed walks for clearer spells, and keep indoor stops in mind for wet afternoons.

National Day crowds

China's National Day holiday starts on October 1 and brings a week of travel. Nanning's popular sights and transport can feel busy, and hotel prices may rise during that stretch. Outside the holiday, October is calmer and often better value. November is drier and cooler, but October still offers comfortable days for sightseeing.

If you hate crowds, avoid travelling during the National Day break and visit Qingxiu Mountain on a weekday.

A local tip

October's mild evenings are a good time to try laoyou fen, Nanning's sour, spicy "old-friend rice noodles." Look for it around Zhongshan Road's food stalls, where a hot bowl makes a satisfying stop after an evening walk.

Travelling with kids? Nanhu Park's lakeside paths make an easy outing, and you can duck into nearby cafés if rain rolls in. With about nine rainy days across the month, a small change of plans can keep the day moving.
