Nanning Weather in March

March: mild, often cloudy

Nanning is warming up in March, with afternoons around 26°C and cooler evenings near 14°C. It's pleasant for a walk through Qingxiu Mountain or beside Nanhu Lake, without April's stronger heat. But expect damp spells: rain falls on 11 days, and the sky is often cloudy. The air can feel sticky, too.

Take a small umbrella for wandering around the old streets or the Guangxi Museum. Long, exposed hikes are less appealing when showers roll in, and cloud can spoil far-off views. The rain isn't constant, so you can still enjoy outdoor stops between showers.

Events and crowds

March doesn't have a major Nanning festival that falls on fixed dates every year. Guangxi's Sanyuesan, a folk festival tied to the lunar calendar, can fall around March or April, so it won't necessarily line up with your visit.

If you hate crowds, March is a calmer choice than the busy autumn season around Nanning's Folk Song Arts Festival. It's also outside the main Chinese New Year travel rush. Prices and hotel demand are generally less pressured than during major holidays, though weekends can still bring local visitors to Qingxiu Mountain.

Make the most of your visit

March sits between cooler February and hotter, wetter April. That makes it a good month for a relaxed city break: explore parks, museums and markets, then duck indoors if rain sets in. Zhongshan Road's food stalls are a handy evening stop, with plenty to eat under cover.

Travelling with kids? Nanhu Park has broad paths for an easy stroll, but rain can leave them slick. For a practical local tip, take the Nanning Metro to Qingxiu Mountain station; it saves you a longer cross-city ride before a walk around the scenic area.
