Warm, showery days

April feels like a step into summer in Nanning. Afternoons can reach 30°C, while mornings and evenings are milder. The air is humid, and rain falls on 13 days, so expect showers to interrupt some plans.

It's a good month for shady walks at Qingxiu Mountain or a relaxed stop at Nanhu Park. Keep indoor sights, such as the Guangxi Museum, in mind for rainy spells. Long, exposed walks can feel sticky by afternoon, and the cloud and limited daily sunshine may disappoint if you're hoping for bright beach weather.

Qingming and local life

Qingming, the tomb-sweeping festival, usually falls in early April. Families visit ancestral graves, and travel can pick up around the public holiday. Dates vary each year, so check the calendar for your trip.

If you hate crowds, avoid travelling on the Qingming holiday itself. Outside that busy spell, April is generally quieter than peak travel periods, with fewer holiday crowds than during major Chinese holidays.
