October is warm, damp and easier to explore than September. Days reach 28°C, with nights around 19°C, but humidity can make afternoons feel sticky. Rain falls on about nine days, often interrupting plans rather than wiping out a whole trip. You'll still get plenty of sun for a walk around Yuntian Cultural City or a stroll through downtown.

The cooler evenings suit a bowl of Yulin beef brisket noodles. For longer outings, keep a flexible plan: save indoor sights for a wet spell, and don't count on a full day at a nearby nature spot if rain is forecast.

Holidays and crowds

China's National Day holiday starts on October 1, bringing a busy travel week. Yulin is less of a major tourist magnet than China's best-known cities, but trains and hotels can still fill up, and prices may rise around the holiday. Mid-Autumn Festival sometimes falls in October, too, so local travel can pick up again then.

If you hate crowds, visit after the National Day rush. The rest of the month is usually calmer than the holiday period, though it isn't as quiet a time to travel as winter. December to February are Yulin's best months overall for weather, so October isn't the cheapest or most comfortable bet for every traveller.

Getting around Yulin in October

October works well for a city break, food stops and short outings between showers. Skip ambitious hikes on days with heavy rain: wet paths and muggy air can make them tiring. The weather is generally a better fit for sightseeing than for planning every day around outdoor activities.

Travelling with kids? Keep Yuntian Cultural City in reserve for a rainy afternoon. Its large indoor complex gives you somewhere to explore when the streets feel damp. If you're heading there from central Yulin, use a local taxi or ride-hailing car rather than relying on a long walk in the humidity.
