Kunshan Weather in June

June: warm, damp days

June feels like summer in Kunshan, but rain often interrupts it. Highs reach 28°C and nights stay around 21°C. Humidity is high, skies are often cloudy, and rain falls on about half the days. You'll get little bright sunshine, so don't count on a full day outdoors.

The wet weather can make long walks through Zhouzhuang's narrow lanes feel sticky, and stone paths can be slippery. Keep outdoor plans flexible. A boat ride through the canals can still be lovely between showers, while Kunshan's Kunqu Opera Museum offers a more sheltered stop.

Festivals and crowds

The Dragon Boat Festival usually falls in June, though its date changes each year. Look for local races and holiday activities, but check which events are happening in Kunshan before you go. The holiday can bring a brief rush of visitors to popular water towns such as Zhouzhuang.

Outside the festival break, June is generally quieter than October, Kunshan's best-known month for a visit. It's also before the main summer school-holiday rush in July and August, so you may find fewer families and more manageable prices than in peak periods.

If you hate crowds, avoid Zhouzhuang during the Dragon Boat holiday and visit on a weekday instead.

Make rain work for you

Rain doesn't have to spoil a Kunshan visit. Keep canal-side wandering for dry spells, then duck into a teahouse in Zhouzhuang when showers pass. The town's covered bridges and waterside lanes make short outings easier than a full day on foot.

A local tip: check the rain before taking a Zhouzhuang boat ride. Heavy showers can make the canals less pleasant, while a break in the clouds gives you a calmer trip past old houses and stone bridges. Don't plan every hour around sunshine; June averages only about three hours of it each day.
