Changshu Weather in July

July feels hot and damp

Changshu in July is hot, sticky and often cloudy, so it's not the easiest month for sightseeing. Highs reach 32°C, and nights stay near 25°C. Rain falls on 18 days, which means showers can cut into your plans. The humidity makes long walks harder than you'd expect, and you'll get only about four hours of sun a day.

Yushan's wooded paths give you more shade than a long wander through the city, but muddy trails can follow heavy rain. Save outdoor sightseeing for the drier spells, and skip a full day of exposed walking around Shanghu Lake. Boat trips are less appealing when it's wet, too.

Plan around summer weather

Travelling with kids? Keep the day flexible. When a rainy spell hits, take a break indoors rather than pushing on.

July is China's school summer holiday, so popular sights get busier. Accommodation may also cost more than it does in quieter months. Compared with October, Changshu's best month overall, July asks more patience. There isn't a major July festival that reliably draws visitors, so don't build your trip around an event.

Make Shanghu work for you

At Shanghu Scenic Area, lotus flowers are a seasonal draw in summer. Go when the rain eases, and enjoy the lake without a long exposed walk during the stickiest part of the day. Keep a backup plan for wet weather.

If you're choosing between July and August, both have highs of 32°C, but July is wetter, with 213 mm of rain against 162 mm in August. If showers are your main concern, August may suit you better. For comfortable sightseeing, though, October is the stronger choice.
