Yongzhou Weather in December

December weather in Yongzhou

December feels cool and often damp, with afternoons around 13°C and nights near 3°C. Cloudy skies are common, and rain falls on about eight days, so the weather can change your plans. It's still a good month for city sights: you can explore Liuzi Temple and the old streets of Lingling without summer heat. The cooler air also suits a meal of Dong'an chicken, Yongzhou's best-known local dish.

What to do and what to skip

Choose indoor stops or short walks when rain sets in. Liuzi Temple and the nearby historic lanes are easier to enjoy than a long outdoor day in wet weather. Yangmingshan National Forest Park can feel cold and misty, so don't count on clear views or a comfortable full-day hike. December has no major citywide festival that draws visitors to Yongzhou; Christmas is mostly a commercial occasion, rather than a traditional local holiday.

Travelling with kids? Keep the Lingling sights and a warm meal in Dong'an on the same day.

Crowds, costs and a local tip

December is generally quieter than October, Yongzhou's best month overall, and visitor demand is lower than in busier autumn periods. You'll likely find a calmer visit, though local prices can still vary around weekends and New Year. For a practical winter stop, visit Liuzi Temple, then duck into a nearby restaurant for hot Dong'an chicken if the damp chill sets in. Bring time for the old lanes, too: they're more pleasant to explore between showers than on a long, exposed park trail.
