June weather in Ubud

June is warm, humid and fairly sunny. You'll get plenty of bright spells, but rain still falls on some days, often as a shower that interrupts an afternoon rather than spoiling the whole visit. The air can feel sticky, especially around the busy streets near Ubud Palace.

It's a good month for walking through the rice fields around Kajeng and Sari Organik, or visiting the Sacred Monkey Forest between showers. Keep long, exposed walks flexible if the sky turns dark. For Mount Batur, you'll need to leave Ubud well before dawn, so don't expect a lie-in after a late evening.

Events and crowds

Bali's annual Bali Arts Festival usually begins in June in Denpasar, with dance, music and craft performances. It's a worthwhile outing if you want to see more than Ubud's usual galleries and performances; allow time for the drive.

June is busier than the wetter months, as Bali's dry season gets going. Ubud's cafés and central sights feel livelier, and room rates tend to rise compared with quieter months. July and August are usually busier still, so June can be a useful middle ground.

If you hate crowds, visit the Monkey Forest early in the day, before tour groups fill its shaded paths.

A useful local tip

After rain, the Campuhan Ridge Walk can be slippery, particularly on its narrower paved sections. Check the ground before setting off, and turn back if the path feels slick. You can still enjoy a gentler outing around Ubud Palace and the nearby market, where cafés offer shelter if a shower passes through.

For an easy meal after exploring, look for nasi campur, rice served with small portions of different dishes. It's a handy choice when you want to sample Balinese food without committing to one large plate.
