Visiting Ubud in November
November: rain returns
November feels hot, humid and often cloudy in Ubud. The high reaches 30°C, and rain falls on many days, often in short, heavy showers. You'll get some sunshine, but the weather can interrupt a full day outdoors.
Keep plans flexible. Ubud Palace, the art galleries around Jalan Raya Ubud and a long lunch of nasi campur work well between showers. The rice terraces at Tegallalang can still be worth a visit, but paths may be slippery. Save longer outdoor plans for a dry spell.
If you hate crowds, November is quieter than July to September, Ubud's best-known peak season.
Quieter, with softer prices
November sits in the shift from the drier months to Bali's wetter season. It's generally less busy than the July-to-September peak, and accommodation prices often ease compared with those months. December brings heavier rain, so November can suit you if you want a calmer stay without the wettest conditions.
There isn't one major annual Ubud festival held every November. Galungan, a Balinese Hindu holiday marked by decorated bamboo poles called penjor, follows the local calendar and can fall in November in some years. If it does, you'll notice offerings and decorations along Ubud's streets.
Make the rain work for you
Travelling with kids? A rainy afternoon is a good time to visit the Neka Art Museum or settle into a café near Ubud Market.
For a walk, try the Campuhan Ridge Walk when the track is dry. Rain can make its clay sections muddy and slick, so turn back if showers start. Around Tegallalang, keep to marked paths rather than stepping onto wet rice-field edges. In town, leave room in your schedule for a shower to pass; the weather can change your plans quickly.
