June weather in Krabi

June feels hot, sticky and often cloudy. Rain falls on many days, though it may come in showers rather than lasting all day. With little sunshine, beach time can be hit and miss, and the sea around Ao Nang may be rough.

You can still enjoy meals and markets in Krabi Town, or visit Wat Kaew Korawaram between showers. Keep plans flexible if you're hoping to take a longtail boat to Railay; services and sea conditions can change in wet weather. The Tiger Cave Temple's steep climb is less appealing in heat and rain.

Crowds and events

June is part of Krabi's quieter, low-season stretch. You'll usually find fewer visitors than in the busy dry-season months, and accommodation deals are more common. May and July are just as rainy by the figures here, so June isn't a dry break between wet months.

June 3 is a public holiday for Queen Suthida's birthday. Government offices may close, but it isn't a major festival that draws big crowds to Krabi. Some Buddhist holidays also fall in June, depending on the lunar calendar.

If you hate crowds, this is a calmer time to explore, but accept that boat trips may be disrupted.

Make room for rain

Plan a beach day around the forecast, not a fixed boat itinerary. If the sea looks rough, stay near Ao Nang or explore Krabi Town instead. You could try khao mok gai, a local-style chicken and rice dish, while waiting out a shower.

For Railay, ask your longtail boat operator about return trips before leaving Ao Nang. Boats cross open water, and wet-season conditions can affect the ride. Keep a town-based option in mind in case the trip is called off.
