Krabi Weather in April

April feels hot and sticky

Krabi stays hot in April, with daytime highs around 31°C and warm nights. Humidity is high, and rain falls on many days, often in short, heavy bursts. You'll get less sunshine than the cloud cover might suggest, so don't count on every beach day being clear.

Railay's beaches and the limestone cliffs around Ao Nang still make good outings between showers. But long boat trips can be less appealing when rain or choppy seas roll in. Keep a town visit or a meal of massaman curry in Krabi Town as a backup.

Songkran brings a change

Songkran, Thailand's New Year, falls in mid-April. Expect water fights and a festive mood, especially around town centres. Some shops and services may close for the holiday, so check locally before setting out.

If you hate crowds, avoid travelling through Krabi Town during Songkran's busiest celebrations. April is generally quieter and often cheaper than the peak months from December to February, though holiday travel can briefly fill hotels and transport. It's also wetter than March, and May brings even more rain.

Travelling with kids? Keep beach plans flexible, and save a rainy spell for the Krabi Town night market if it's open.

A useful local tip: ask at Ao Nang's longtail-boat stands about sea conditions before heading to Railay. Boats cross open water, and a sudden downpour can make the ride rough. If the sea looks unsettled, stick to nearby sights rather than committing to a longer island trip. A shaded stop at Tiger Cave Temple can also suit a cloudy stretch, though the steep climb feels tougher in April's heat.
