June: warm and showery

June feels like summer in Jilin, with warm afternoons and milder evenings. The high reaches 26°C, but humidity and frequent rain can make the air feel sticky. Rain falls on 18 days, so expect interruptions rather than a reliably dry stretch.

You can still explore Beishan Park or walk beside the Songhua River between showers. Save long outdoor plans for clearer spells, and don't count on a full day at Songhua Lake if rain sets in. The lake is better for relaxed scenery than a rigid schedule this month.

Festivals and local flavour

The Dragon Boat Festival may fall in June, though its date changes each year. You'll see people eating zongzi, sticky rice wrapped in leaves, and some cities hold dragon boat races. Local events vary, so don't assume a race will be happening in Jilin itself.

May and September are better overall weather picks, but June gives you long daylight for sightseeing.

For a practical local tweak, keep your Songhua Lake visit flexible: heavy rain can spoil the views, so check conditions before travelling out from central Jilin. If the sky turns grey, stay in town and explore Beishan instead.
