Hezhou Weather in November

Mild days, cool evenings

November is one of the best months to visit Hezhou, and it's a comfortable autumn month. You'll find afternoons around 22°C, with evenings cooling to about 11°C. That's pleasant for wandering Huangyao Ancient Town, where you can explore the old lanes and stone bridges without summer heat. Gupo Mountain also makes a good day out, but rain can make the trails slippery.

Rain falls on around 10 days, so cloudy skies are common. You'll still get some sunshine, just don't count on every day being clear. October is warmer and a little wetter in its own way, while December is cooler and drier. Between them, October to December is the best stretch of the year here, and November sits right in the middle of it.

Crowds and November dates

November has no major nationwide public holiday in China, so you're unlikely to meet the rush that comes with October's National Day break. That makes Hezhou a good pick if you want a calmer visit, though Huangyao can still fill with tour groups on weekends. Prices may ease off compared with October's holiday peak, but don't expect every stay to be cheaper.

Singles' Day falls on November 11. It's mainly a big online shopping event, not a public holiday, and it doesn't mean a local festival in Hezhou.

If crowds bother you, visit Huangyao on a weekday and stay on after the day-trippers leave.

A useful local tip

On a rainy day, slow things down and spend it in Huangyao instead of heading for Gupo Mountain's trails. Try Hezhou oil tea, a local savoury tea soup, in town. It's a warming stop when the air feels damp. Ask for it by its Chinese name, youcha, if the English menu is unclear. Wet days are also good for exploring the covered lanes and traditional houses, saving longer walks for a drier forecast.
