November weather

Guilin feels cool and mild in November, with highs around 21°C and lows near 10°C. Rain falls on about 10 days, and cloudy spells are common, so you may get a grey view along the Li River. Still, the weather usually suits a river cruise, a walk around Two Rivers and Four Lakes, or a visit to Reed Flute Cave.

Long hikes can feel chilly when the sun disappears. If you're heading to the Longji Rice Terraces, don't expect the golden harvest fields seen earlier in autumn.

Crowds and local events

November has no major nationwide holiday, so the big travel rush is over. Crowds are usually lighter than during October's National Day holiday and the busy summer months. Prices can also be less pressured than in those peak periods, though popular Li River cruises still draw visitors.

If you hate crowds, November is a good time for Guilin's city sights and Yangshuo's riverside paths. There isn't a well-known annual November festival to plan around, so your visit is more about the scenery than a packed events calendar.

Make the most of your trip

The shorter days still leave time for a relaxed day out, but keep your plans flexible when rain comes through. You can swap a riverside walk for Reed Flute Cave, where the colourful rock formations are indoors.

Travelling with kids? A Li River boat trip is easier than a long hike, but the open deck can feel cool once you're moving. Bring an extra layer for that part of the journey. In Yangshuo, save time for a bowl of Guilin rice noodles; it's a local staple, often served with pickled beans and peanuts.
