Hanoi Weather in November

November: mild and mostly dry

Hanoi feels much more comfortable in November than in the sticky, rainy months. Days reach 25°C, while evenings cool to 17°C. Rain falls on only seven days on average, so you can spend more time walking without watching the sky.

The Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake are good for a relaxed stroll, and the cooler weather suits a visit to the Temple of Literature. Skip plans that depend on a perfectly clear view: November skies are often cloudy, and sunshine is limited.

What's on

Vietnamese Teachers' Day falls on 20 November. It's a day when students celebrate their teachers, rather than a major public holiday for visitors. You may notice flowers and school celebrations, but most sightseeing and transport carry on as usual.

If you hate crowds, November is a better bet than the busiest winter months. The weather is turning drier, though, so visitor numbers and hotel demand can rise compared with rainy October. December to February are the most popular months overall, and prices may feel firmer as November goes on.

Travelling with kids? The cooler days make a walk around Hoan Kiem Lake easier, with plenty to see and places to pause in the Old Quarter nearby.

Try a bowl of pho in the Old Quarter after an evening walk. November's cooler air makes hot broth especially welcome. For a peaceful break, visit the Temple of Literature earlier in the day; its courtyards are easier to enjoy before tour groups arrive. Keep a small rain plan for cloudy spells, but you don't need to build your whole visit around showers.
