Haiphong Weather in November

Mild days, cooler evenings

November is a comfortable month for walking around Haiphong, and it's one of the strongest times to visit. Afternoons reach about 25°C, while evenings cool to 18°C. Rain falls on around eight days, but it's far less of a daily worry than in October. You'll get about five hours of sunshine a day.

That mild weather suits the Opera House, Du Hang Pagoda and the old streets near Tam Bac Lake. The cooler air also makes a bowl of hot bánh đa cua, Haiphong's crab noodle soup, especially welcome. Beach time is less reliable now, though, so don't plan your trip around swimming or sunbathing.

A quieter month

November is calmer than the summer beach season, when Haiphong and nearby Do Son draw more holidaymakers. You'll find quieter beaches and city sights, and rooms are often easier to book at lower rates than in peak summer. If you're chasing the very best weather, December to February comes first. November is close behind, so think of it as the step just before that peak.

If you hate crowds, November suits a relaxed city break. Vietnam's Teachers' Day falls on November 20. Schools mark it with ceremonies, but it's not a major visitor festival, and you shouldn't expect citywide closures.

Local tips for Haiphong

Clouds can roll in, and rain is still possible, so keep outdoor plans flexible. A wet afternoon is a good excuse to duck into a café around Tam Bac Lake or linger over lunch. For a breezy outing, check conditions before heading to Cat Ba Island, since boat trips are much less enjoyable when the weather turns rough.

For a local food stop, order bánh đa cua at a busy lunchtime shop rather than saving it for dinner. The noodles are a Haiphong speciality, and the hot broth is just right after a damp walk through the city.
