Haiphong Weather in June

June: hot and rainy

June feels sticky from morning to night. Haiphong reaches highs around 31°C, and rain falls on many days. Cloud and humidity make long walks feel tiring, while showers can interrupt plans.

You can still visit the Opera House and wander around Tam Bac Lake between downpours. For a beach day, Cat Ba and Lan Ha Bay are options, but keep plans flexible. Avoid counting on clear views from the water, or a dry day for longer hikes in Cat Ba National Park.

Summer travel

June 1 is International Children's Day, and Vietnamese schools are on summer break. Families head for seaside trips, so Cat Ba can feel busy, especially around weekends. Haiphong city itself is usually a calmer base.

Compared with the cooler, drier months from December to February, June's wet weather tends to make it a less appealing time for sightseeing. Don't assume every coastal stay is cheaper, though: summer demand can push up prices on Cat Ba.

If you hate crowds, stay in central Haiphong and visit Cat Ba on a weekday.

Make the ferry plan flexible

Rain reaches 240 mm across June, and July is wetter still. That can mean a soggy crossing or a change of plans, rather than beach weather every day. Keep indoor time for the Haiphong Museum or a bowl of bánh đa cua, the city's crab noodle soup.

For Cat Ba, take the ferry from Dong Bai rather than relying on the old Got route; it serves the island and avoids the former crossing point. Check current ferry services before setting out, since bad weather can affect trips. Don't book your whole visit around a single boat outing.
