Wuhu Weather in February

February feels chilly

Wuhu's February days are cool, and evenings can feel close to freezing. The high reaches 11°C, but the low is 1°C. Cloudy skies are common, with rain on about ten days, so sightseeing can feel damp and grey.

You can still enjoy a gentle walk around Jinghu Park or browse Zhongshan Road's shops and cafés. Save long outdoor days for clearer spells. Wet paths and chilly weather make a full day at the riverside less appealing, and February isn't a great month for lingering outdoors.

Lunar New Year crowds

Chinese New Year sometimes falls in February, and the Lantern Festival may, too. Their dates follow the lunar calendar, so they shift from year to year. During the holiday, local streets and transport can get busy, while some smaller shops and restaurants close. Look for festive lanterns and decorations, but don't count on every business being open.

If you hate crowds, avoid travelling during the main holiday period. Outside it, February is winter low season, so Wuhu is generally quieter and less costly than October, its best-known month for visiting. Holiday travel can still make transport busier and prices less predictable.

Make the most of a cool day

For a cosy break, try Wuhu's local shrimp dishes at a restaurant near Zhongshan Road, rather than planning a long outdoor lunch. The city's iron-painting tradition also makes a distinctive indoor stop if you find a workshop or display open.

Travelling with kids? Keep Jinghu Park as a short outing, then head indoors if drizzle sets in. February gets more rain than January, though less than March, so a flexible plan suits the changeable weather. You'll get more daylight than in midwinter, but cloudy afternoons can still feel gloomy.
