Christmas Day is a public holiday in Cyprus, and you'll see seasonal lights and decorations around town. Churches hold services, while some shops and restaurants may close or change their hours on Christmas Day. Check locally if you have a particular meal or visit in mind.

Travelling with kids? A stroll through the decorated streets can make a nice evening outing, but don't count on every seasonal activity running daily.

Quieter days and local tips

December is winter low season, so Paphos is generally quieter than in the popular spring and autumn months. You'll likely find fewer visitors at major sights than in April to June or October to November. Prices can be lower than in peak months, though holiday dates may be busier.

For a practical rainy-day plan, visit the Tombs of the Kings when the ground is dry, then head to the Paphos Archaeological Park on another clear spell. Both are open-air sites, so wet weather can make sightseeing less comfortable. If December's rain puts you off, nearby Larnaca often has better weather.
