Paphos stays warm in October, with afternoons around 26°C and evenings near 20°C. The air feels less harsh than in September, making walks around the harbour and the mosaics at Kato Paphos Archaeological Park more comfortable.

Rain falls on about six days, so most days still suit sightseeing, coastal walks and time at the beach. A shower can interrupt an outdoor plan, though. Keep a flexible option, such as the Paphos Archaeological Museum, for a wet spell. Don't count on every day being a full beach day.

What to do

October's softer heat works well for exploring the Tombs of the Kings or walking the seafront path between Paphos Harbour and the tombs. You'll get plenty of sun, but the shorter days leave less time for long outings than summer.

Travelling with kids? The harbour and its castle make an easy outing, with cafés nearby when the afternoon gets warm. For dinner, try Cypriot meze in the old town: a meal of small shared dishes that suits a slower evening.

Crowds and practical tips

October is a shoulder-season month. It's generally calmer than the busy summer period, and accommodation is often better value than in peak summer. The October 1 Cyprus Independence Day holiday may bring local closures, so check opening times if you're visiting that day.

If you hate crowds, October is a good time to see the mosaics without the height-of-summer rush. At Kato Paphos, visit the archaeological park earlier in the day; its open-air paths offer little shade, even when the heat has eased.
