October by the sea

Limassol stays warm in October, with daytime highs around 26°C and mild evenings. The sea is often still inviting for a swim, while the gentler heat makes walking the seafront promenade or exploring the Old Town more comfortable than in summer.

Rain is limited, but a few wet days can interrupt beach plans. October is a good time for seaside cafés and visits to Limassol Castle; leave a flexible slot for the beach rather than counting on every day being dry.

Days out and celebrations

For families, October's milder afternoons make a walk along the Molos promenade easier than in the summer heat. You can also visit the marina and stop for a meal in the Old Town.

Cyprus marks Independence Day on October 1, and Ohi Day on October 28 brings public ceremonies and parades. These can affect traffic and opening hours, so check locally if you're visiting on either holiday. Limassol's better-known Wine Festival is held in September, not October.

A quieter shoulder season

October is a shoulder-season month: it's generally calmer than the busy summer, and accommodation can cost less than during peak holiday periods. It's still a popular time to visit, though, especially with warm weather and plenty of sunshine.

If you're a budget traveller, you'll likely find better value than in July or August, without the cooler feel of November. For a practical local stop, try the covered Limassol Municipal Market near the Old Town for fruit, olives and other Cypriot treats. It's especially handy when a brief shower sends you indoors.
