July: hot, dry days

July feels properly hot in Limassol, with daytime highs around 30°C and warm nights. Rain is almost unheard of, and long sunny days suit the beach at Akti Olympion or a swim near the Old Port. The seafront promenade is pleasant later in the day, but walking around Kourion's exposed ruins at midday can feel punishing. Save open-air sightseeing for cooler hours and spend the hottest part of the day indoors.

Families who want long beach days will find July easier than a sightseeing-heavy trip.

Events and evenings

Limassol's Summer Festival brings cultural performances to the city in July, including theatre and music. The programme changes each year, so check the dates before building your evening around it. July isn't the month for the city's better-known Wine Festival, which is held later in the summer.

For a cooler outing, head to the Limassol Marina after sunset. You can stroll by the boats and find dinner nearby, though the area gets busy on summer evenings.

Crowds and practical tips

July is high season, so beaches and popular restaurants are busier than in spring or autumn. Prices for stays are generally higher than in the quieter months, too. If you'd rather have more breathing room and gentler weather, April to June or September to November are better bets.

At Kourion, visit the ancient theatre earlier in the day, then take a break in the shade before exploring more of the site. The stones offer little cover, and the afternoon sun can make even a short walk feel tiring.
