Daegu Weather in June

June feels warm and damp

Daegu is properly into summer by June. Days reach 28°C, while evenings are milder at 17°C. Humidity sits high, and rain falls on about 10 days, so afternoons can feel sticky. Clouds often soften the sunshine, but you'll still get some bright spells.

The long days work well for outdoor sights, such as Seomun Market or the paths around Apsan Park. Save a steep Apsan hike for a cooler, clearer morning. Heavy showers can make trails slippery, and the hotter, wetter weather makes long midday walks less pleasant than in May or October.

Festivals and crowds

The Daegu International Musical Festival usually runs in June and can bring performances to venues across the city. Check its programme before you go, since dates and shows vary. June 6 is Memorial Day, a public holiday in South Korea; some locals may travel or visit family.

If you hate crowds, June is generally calmer than Daegu's popular autumn season. It's also outside the main spring and autumn sightseeing peaks, so stays may cost less than in October. Don't expect the quietest streets every day, though: festival nights and the holiday can draw local visitors.

Make rainy hours count

Travelling with kids? Build in an indoor stop for a wet afternoon, such as the Daegu National Museum, then head out when the rain eases.

For a local food break, go to Seomun Market for kalguksu, a noodle soup often served in a rich broth. The market's covered lanes make browsing easier when showers pass through. Daegu's subway is handy for getting between central sights without walking through a downpour. If you're heading to Apsan, check conditions first; wet paths can turn a short outing into a slippery one.
