Daegu Weather in February

February: cold, clear days

Daegu is still in winter in February. Afternoons reach about 6°C, but nights can fall to -5°C, so the day feels very different once the sun goes down. Rain is limited, with about five wet days, and you'll often get enough sunshine for a comfortable spell outdoors.

The cold suits indoor stops such as the Daegu National Museum or a long lunch around Seomun Market. On dry days, you can walk through Apsan Park, but the trails and lookout can feel chilly, especially after dark. Save a slow café stop for the afternoon, and don't count on lingering outside late.

Holidays and quieter streets

Seollal, Korea's Lunar New Year, sometimes falls in February. If it does, expect many locals to travel, and some family-run shops and restaurants to close for part of the holiday. Dates change each year, so check before making Seomun Market your main meal stop.

If you hate crowds, February is usually calmer than the popular May and October travel months. It's winter low season, so accommodation can be easier to find and may cost less than in those busier periods. Seollal is the exception: transport gets busy, and prices can rise around the holiday.

A warm-up in Seomun Market

Travelling with kids? A market meal can be an easy break from the cold. At Seomun Market, look for kalguksu, a warm noodle soup, or Daegu-style spicy tteokbokki, rice cakes in a hot sauce.

Use Seomun Market Station on Daegu Metro Line 3 to reach the market without a long walk in the cold. Check which stalls are open if your visit falls during Seollal. February's short, chilly evenings aren't ideal for a long outdoor itinerary, but they're just right for settling in over a hot meal.
