September: cooler, still damp

September feels like a step down from August's heat, but it's not dry autumn yet. Days are warm, evenings cooler, and humidity can still make a walk feel sticky. Rain falls on several days, with cloudy spells, so keep indoor plans handy.

You can explore Seomun Market, browse its food stalls, or visit Daegu National Museum between showers. The city's hills are still good for a walk, but wet paths can be slippery. Save long hikes around Apsan for a clearer day, and don't count on a full day at the river or a picnic in the park.

Festivals and holiday travel

The Daegu International Opera Festival often starts in September and continues into autumn. It's a good reason to spend an evening at Daegu Opera House, though the dates change each year. Chuseok, Korea's major harvest holiday, can also fall in September. If it does, expect busy trains and some family-run businesses to close.

September sits between the summer rush and October's popular, drier autumn weather. It's generally a calmer time for sightseeing than peak autumn, and you may find accommodation less sought after than in October. Chuseok is the exception: holiday travel can fill trains and raise demand.

For a useful local tip, take the Apsan cable car if the summit trails are muddy. You'll still get a view over Daegu without committing to a slippery climb. Keep the Seomun Market food stalls as your rainy-day backup; many are covered, so showers needn't end your evening.
