Corfu feels hot from morning to evening in August. Highs reach 30°C, and nights stay warm, so Old Town's narrow lanes can feel sticky by midday. Rain is limited, but a brief shower is possible.

You'll enjoy swimming at Paleokastritsa and taking boat trips along the coast. Save Corfu Town's Old Fortress and long walks around the Liston for later in the day. The heat makes strenuous hikes less pleasant, especially on exposed paths.

August events

On August 11, Corfu Town holds a procession honouring St Spyridon, the island's patron saint. Expect extra people around the church and central streets. The Assumption on August 15 is a major Greek religious holiday, with services and local celebrations.

Crowds and local tips

August is one of Corfu's busiest and priciest months, with Greek and overseas holidaymakers filling beaches, resorts and restaurants. It's busier than April to June, the best months overall, and September is a little cooler but wetter.

If you hate crowds, consider visiting in June or September instead. In August, head to Corfu Town's Old Fortress in the late afternoon, when the stone paths are less punishing and the views are lovely. For a quieter swim, try a small cove near Paleokastritsa rather than staying by the main beach.
