Mild days for exploring

April feels like spring on Corfu: afternoons are mild, while evenings can still feel cool. The average high is 18°C, with rain on nine days, so a shower may interrupt a walk. There's more daylight than in March, and the weather suits exploring Corfu Town's lanes or hiking part of the Corfu Trail.

Beaches are lovely for a stroll, but don't count on swimming weather every day. Some beach businesses and summer services may not be running yet. For views without the heat, visit Paleokastritsa or climb to Angelokastro on a clearer day.

Easter brings a crowd

Orthodox Easter sometimes falls in April, and Corfu's Holy Week celebrations are a major event. On Holy Saturday, crowds gather in Corfu Town to watch the processions and the tradition of throwing clay pots from balconies. Dates change each year, so check when Easter falls before choosing your travel dates.

If you hate crowds, avoid the Old Town during the main Easter events. The island is generally quieter than in July and August, and April often costs less than the peak summer months. Easter itself is an exception: rooms and transport can be in higher demand.

Make the most of town

April is one of Corfu's best months overall, especially if you'd rather sightsee than spend every day on a beach. Rainfall is lower than in March, though showers remain possible. Keep a flexible day for Corfu Town's museums and covered cafés if the weather turns.

A local tip: for the Holy Saturday pot-throwing, choose a spot along the Liston or nearby streets, then stay clear of balconies overhead. The pots are real, and the Old Town gets packed. If you're travelling with kids, watch the event from a little farther back.
