Orthodox Easter sometimes falls in April, but its date changes each year. If your visit coincides, expect church services and local celebrations; check the date before you travel. April 8 is International Roma Day, with events sometimes held in Šuto Orizari, Skopje's Roma municipality.

For a rainy-day plan, take the Stone Bridge into the Old Bazaar and duck into the covered shops. The bridge links the city centre with the Bazaar, making it easy to shorten your walk if showers arrive.
