Holidays and crowds

China's National Day holiday, known as Golden Week, starts in October. It brings a major rush of domestic visitors to Sanya, especially around the holiday itself. Hotels and flights can cost more then, and queues at popular sights grow.

Travelling with kids? Keep a backup indoor stop in Sanya city for days when the beach plans fall through. Check local conditions before setting out for Wuzhizhou Island, since rough weather can affect boat services. October suits flexible travellers more than anyone counting on uninterrupted sunshine.
