April: warm and showery

Recife stays hot in April, with sticky air and frequent rain. Showers can interrupt a beach day at Boa Viagem, though you'll still get sunny spells. The sea and sand may suit a short visit between showers, but don't count on a full dry day.

Rain also makes outdoor sightseeing less predictable. Keep the covered galleries and museums around Recife Antigo in mind, including Paço do Frevo and Cais do Sertão. The historic streets are still worth exploring, but wet paving can make a long wander less comfortable.

Easter and quieter days

Recife's big Carnival crowds are long gone, so April is generally calmer than the summer high season. Prices can be easier outside holiday dates, but expect more demand around Easter.
