Mendoza Weather in April

Mild days, cool evenings

April feels like a comfortable middle ground in Mendoza. Afternoons reach 25°C, while nights drop to 11°C. Rain is limited, with about three rainy days, and you'll still get plenty of sunshine.

That makes it a good month for walking around Plaza Independencia or exploring the wineries of Luján de Cuyo. You can enjoy outdoor lunches without March's stronger heat. Evenings can feel cool, so don't expect warm weather after dark.

Wine country after Vendimia

The big grape harvest celebration, Fiesta Nacional de la Vendimia, takes place in March, not April. April is quieter, but winery visits still make sense: harvest may be over, yet you can taste local Malbec and see the autumn colours in the vineyards.

If you hate crowds, April is a calmer choice than March, when Vendimia draws visitors. It's also shoulder season, so accommodation and tours can often cost less than during the harvest festivities. Easter can bring extra visitors, though; its dates change each year.

Make the most of April

For a city break, stroll through Parque General San Martín or linger over lunch in the leafy streets of Chacras de Coria. April's milder days are also more comfortable for a day trip towards the Andes than the hotter summer months. Check mountain conditions before setting out.

Travelling with kids? Build in a relaxed afternoon at Parque General San Martín rather than filling the day with winery stops.

A useful local tip: wineries around Maipú are spread out, so arrange a driver or guided wine tour instead of trying to walk between them. You'll spend more time tasting and less time working out how to get to the next vineyard.
