June feels mild and green in Minsk, with warm afternoons and cooler evenings. The long daylight gives you plenty of time to walk between Upper Town, Trinity Hill and the Svislach River. Parks such as Gorky Park are pleasant for a slow afternoon, too.

Rain falls on many days, often as passing showers. Keep indoor stops like the National Art Museum in mind, and don't count on a full day at the riverside. After rain, paths in parks can get muddy.

What's on

June 22 is the Day of National Remembrance and Sorrow in Belarus. It marks the start of the German invasion in 1941, and you may see solemn ceremonies at memorials such as Victory Square. It's a day for quiet visits, not a festival atmosphere.

If you're travelling with kids, Gorky Park's rides and the nearby Svislach embankment make an easy outing between showers.

June brings the start of summer travel, but Minsk is usually less busy than in July. Prices tend to rise from the quieter spring months, though June is still a good choice if you want mild weather without peak-summer crowds.

For a practical rainy-day route, take the metro to Nemiga, visit the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, then cross into Upper Town for cafés and covered museum stops. Try draniki, Belarusian potato pancakes, at a local café nearby. Check the forecast before setting out: showers can interrupt a long walk, even when the day feels bright.
