Lahore Weather in May

May feels fierce

May is when Lahore's heat starts to shape your whole day. Afternoons can reach 42°C, while nights stay warm at around 26°C. It's usually dry, with just a few rainy days, but the sun can still make open-air sightseeing tiring.

Save the Walled City, Lahore Fort and Badshahi Mosque for the cooler parts of the day. In the harsh afternoon heat, take a long break indoors rather than walking between monuments. May isn't a good month for lingering in exposed gardens or taking long walks.

Events and quieter streets

Labour Day falls on May 1 and is a public holiday in Pakistan. Some offices and services may close, so check locally before making a special trip. There isn't one major Lahore festival that reliably draws visitors throughout May.

If you hate crowds, you'll find May quieter than Lahore's November-to-February high season. Demand is generally lower, too, so accommodation may cost less than in the cooler months. The trade-off is the heat: many visitors find sightseeing more comfortable in winter.

Make the heat work

The weather is poor for active days outdoors, but you can still enjoy Lahore's food and indoor sights. Try a lassi in the old city, then spend the hottest hours in a café or museum before heading out again.

Travelling with kids? Keep visits to the Lahore Fort's open courtyards brief, and use a car or rickshaw to cross between the Fort and Badshahi Mosque. Those short rides can feel far kinder than walking in the afternoon heat.
