Hyderabad feels warm, damp and cloudy in July. Daytime highs reach 31°C, while nights stay around 23°C. Rain falls on about 21 days, and the air feels sticky. You'll get little sunshine, so outdoor sightseeing can feel tiring between showers.

The rain can interrupt walks around Charminar and the open grounds at Golconda Fort. Save indoor stops, such as the Salar Jung Museum, for a wet spell. If you visit Golconda, take care on its stone steps when they're slick.

Festivals and crowds

July often brings Bonalu, a Telangana festival honouring the goddess Mahakali. Celebrations take place at temples across Hyderabad, including Ujjaini Mahakali Temple in Secunderabad. The dates vary each year, and processions can make nearby streets busy.

If you hate crowds, avoid temple areas during Bonalu processions. Outside festival events, July is quieter than the popular November and December travel months. Rain and low sunshine also make it a less comfortable time to visit, so you may find fewer visitors and lower hotel rates than in the peak season.

Making the most of July

Plan your day around the rain rather than trying to fit in long outdoor visits. The cloud cover and showers can make a full day of sightseeing harder, but museum visits and food stops still work well. Try Hyderabadi biryani in the Old City, then explore Charminar when the rain eases.

Travelling with kids? Keep the Salar Jung Museum as your rainy-day option, and don't rely on a long visit to Golconda staying dry. For the fort, watch the stone steps and allow extra time if showers slow your walk.
