October is one of Huai'an's best months to visit. Afternoons feel mild, while evenings turn cool. The month gets some rain, but showers are less frequent than in September. That makes it a good time to explore the city on foot or take a boat ride through the Li Canal.

You can comfortably visit the Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall and stroll around Qing Yan Garden without the summer heat. Wet days can still interrupt outdoor plans, so keep indoor sights in mind. The shorter days also mean less time for long excursions.

Holidays and crowds

China's National Day holiday begins on October 1 and lasts a week. Huai'an's popular sights and transport can get crowded then, with higher travel prices than in quieter months. Outside the holiday, October is still a popular time to visit, but the city is generally easier to explore.

If you hate crowds, avoid the first week and visit later in the month. You'll still get pleasant autumn weather, and the Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall is likely to feel calmer.
