October weather

October is one of Suqian's best months for being outdoors. Days reach about 22°C, while evenings cool to around 11°C. Rain is lighter than in September, and you'll usually get comfortable conditions for walking around King Xiang's Hometown or exploring Santai Mountain National Forest Park.

The air can still feel a little humid, but afternoons are much less sticky than in summer. Take a break indoors if rain rolls in, and save long lakeside visits for clearer spells. At Luoma Lake, breezy, cloudy weather can make a beach day less appealing.

Holidays and crowds

China's National Day holiday brings many domestic visitors to popular sights in early October. Expect busier paths at Santai Mountain and more people around Luoma Lake. Rooms and transport can cost more during the holiday than later in the month.

After the holiday, Suqian is generally quieter, with pleasant autumn weather still in place. April and May are also popular months, so October outside the holiday can be a good choice if you want mild days without peak-season crowds. Families who enjoy park walks may find the cooler weather easier than September's warmer afternoons.

Making plans

October suits unhurried sightseeing, lakeside walks and a day among the trees at Santai Mountain. It's less suited to a full day of swimming or lounging on the shore: evenings are cool, and sunshine averages only part of the day.

A practical local pairing is Santai Mountain and nearby Luoma Lake. Visit the forest park first, then head to the lake if the sky clears; you won't have to build your whole day around the beach. If your trip overlaps Mid-Autumn Festival, dates vary by year, so check whether it falls in October before making it part of your plans.
