Visiting Guiyang in November
November weather
November is one of the most comfortable months to visit Guiyang, and it's cool more than it's cold. Afternoons reach about 18°C, while mornings and evenings drop to around 8°C, so bring layers. Rain still arrives on several days, but at around 42 mm it's far drier than October. You'll find the conditions ideal for wandering around Jiaxiu Pavilion or exploring Qingyan Ancient Town, without the sticky heat of summer.
The trade-off is light. With about 10.7 hours of daylight and only 2.7 hours of sun a day, skies are often grey, and a long day outdoors can feel chilly by late afternoon. That's why it helps to keep your plans flexible, especially for a hike in Qianling Park, which can be less pleasant on a wet day.
What to do and eat
Guiyang's food is a good reason to plan your days around meals. A bowl of sour soup fish is especially welcome on a cool evening, and Huaxi Beef Noodles are another local favourite. Between meals, Qingyan's stone lanes and old gates are easier to explore at a relaxed pace, since the crowds are lighter. Watch your footing if the paving is wet.
If you do head to Qianling Park, stick to the main paths. The wooded trails can stay damp under the trees even after the rain has stopped. When they look slick, switch to a visit to Hongfu Temple, which is usually quieter.
Events and crowds
November has no major public holiday in Guiyang. Singles' Day, on November 11, is a huge online shopping event across China rather than a travel holiday, so you may see sales in shops but shouldn't expect a festival atmosphere or a surge of visitors at the city's sights.
Compared with October, November is generally quieter, and accommodation prices are often lower once the National Day peak has passed. That makes it one of Guiyang's best months overall for a city break, especially if you prefer fewer crowds. Just plan a few indoor stops between walks so the grey afternoons don't catch you out.
