Holidays and crowds

The Mid-Autumn Festival sometimes falls in September; its date changes each year. If it does, expect more local travel around the holiday. China's National Day holiday starts in October, so late September can also feel busier as people prepare to travel.

If you hate crowds, September is usually a calmer choice than peak summer or the National Day holiday period. Prices tend to ease after August, though holiday dates can change that.

Getting around Changchun in September
