August heat

Bursa's August days are hot and mostly sunny, with highs around 33°C. Evenings are milder, but sightseeing can still feel tiring in the afternoon. Rain is rare, so you're unlikely to lose much time to showers.

The covered lanes of the Grand Bazaar and Koza Han make better midday stops than exposed walks around the city. Save longer outdoor visits for later, or take the cable car up to Uludağ, where you can escape the city's heat. Skip strenuous walks in the hottest part of the day.

August 30 is Victory Day, a national holiday with ceremonies and flags around Bursa. Some shops and public offices may close, while central areas can be busier. Check local transport if you're travelling that day.

Crowds and tips

Summer is a busy travel season, so Bursa may feel livelier and cost more than in April to June or September to October. It's not as comfortable for sightseeing as those shoulder-season months, though the dry weather suits a cable-car ride or an evening stroll.

For a local stop, try İskender kebab in the city where it originated. If you're taking the cable car to Uludağ, bring a light layer for the cooler mountain air, especially if you'll stay into the evening.
