Zadar Weather in April

April feels like spring

Zadar is mild in April, but it's not reliably beach weather. Highs reach 16°C and lows sit around 12°C. Rain falls on about 10 days, and clouds often share the sky with the sun. You'll get roughly five hours of sun a day, so a shower can interrupt a walk.

It's a good month for exploring the Old Town, Roman Forum and Sea Organ without summer heat. The waterfront is lovely for a stroll, but the sea may feel too cool for a swim. Save long beach days for warmer months, and keep indoor sights in mind for wet spells.

A quieter visit

April is spring shoulder season, before Zadar's busiest summer months. You'll usually find fewer visitors than in July or August, and accommodation prices are generally lower than at peak season. May is warmer, though, so April can suit you if you'd rather trade beach weather for a calmer city break.

If you hate crowds, April's a good time to wander the lanes around the Forum. Travelling with kids? The Sea Organ is an easy stop, and its music comes from waves moving through tubes beneath the steps.

Easter and local tips

Easter sometimes falls in April. If it does during your visit, church services and holiday opening hours can affect your plans; check the hours for sights such as St Donatus before setting out. There isn't one fixed April festival to plan a trip around.

For a practical Old Town tip, visit the Sea Organ when the water is moving. The sound changes with the waves, so it's more interesting than a quick photo stop. If rain sets in, duck into St Donatus or the nearby Archaeological Museum instead.
