Wenzhou Weather in March

March: mild, damp spring

Wenzhou warms up in March, but it's often grey and wet. Days reach about 18°C, while evenings can feel cool at around 8°C. Rain falls on many days, and the air stays humid, so don't expect much sunshine.

You can still explore the city between showers. Try Wuma Street for local snacks, or visit Jiangxin Islet when the sky clears. The paths can be slippery after rain, so save longer walks around Nanxi River for a drier day. Beach plans are less reliable now; the sea and skies may feel gloomy.

Events and crowds

There isn't a major fixed festival across Wenzhou in March. The She people's traditional Third Month Third celebration may fall around this time, but its date follows the lunar calendar and varies. It's associated with She communities, not a citywide event.

If you hate crowds, March is a comfortable time to visit. It's outside the busier October-to-December stretch, and prices are generally less pressured than in peak months. Still, local school holidays around Lunar New Year can sometimes run into early March, depending on the year.

Make room for rain

March is wetter than February, with rain on about half the days. April is just as rainy, so there's no need to wait for perfectly dry weather. Just keep outdoor plans flexible and use rainy spells for Wenzhou Museum or a meal of fish balls, a local favourite.

For Jiangxin Islet, check the ferry service before you set out. The island sits in the Ou River, and poor weather can disrupt a trip across. On a clear afternoon, the river views make the crossing worthwhile.
