Best Time to Visit Virar
India · weather by month, temperature and rainfall
If you want the most pleasant weather in Virar, plan your trip for November to March. Temperatures barely change through the year: highs stay between 26°C and 30°C, so rainfall matters far more than heat when choosing when to go. The rainy season runs over June to September; July is the wettest month with about 716 mm (28.2 in) of rain. July is the least comfortable month, mainly because of the rain.
When to go to Virar: a seasonal guide
Three seasons: dry, wet and in between
Virar sits on the coast north of Mumbai, and the year splits fairly cleanly. From November to March it's dry, sunny and comfortable. April and May are hotter and stickier, with almost no rain. Then the monsoon arrives in June and stays until September.
Those monsoon months are properly wet. July is the peak, with 716 mm of rain and rain on 29 days. You'll see very little sun. Trains and roads can flood, so plans change quickly.
Which month for which trip
December to February is the sweet spot. Days are warm, nights are mild, and the humidity is the lowest of the year. It's good for walking around Virar's old Jivdani temple hill or heading out to the quiet beaches nearby, like Arnala and Rajodi. Arnala also has a small sea fort, reached by a short ferry ride.
March and April are still dry, but afternoons turn sticky. Go early to the beach or stay in the shade. May can bring the odd storm as the monsoon gets closer.
October and November are a good shoulder stretch. October still has some rain, with 84 mm over 11 days. By November it's mostly dry again, and the countryside is green from the rains.
Travelling with kids or older relatives? Stick to the cooler months, when you can be outside all day without struggling.
Crowds and local events
Virar isn't a big tourist stop, so you won't find true high-season crowds. What you'll find is local weekend traffic. Beaches fill up with day-trippers from Mumbai on dry-season Sundays and holidays. Go midweek if you want space.
The monsoon is the quiet time, but it's quiet because the weather is rough. Sea swimming is unsafe then, and the beaches are best left alone.
Festivals follow the local calendar. Ganesh Chaturthi, usually in August or September, is the big one. Neighbourhoods set up decorated Ganesh idols, and on the last day crowds carry them to the water for immersion. It's lively, loud and joyful, though it falls in the wet season, so expect to get soaked. Diwali, in October or November, brings lights, sweets and fireworks, and the weather is better by then.
If you want the easiest trip, aim for late November through February.
