Victoria Falls Weather in March

March: warm and showery

March feels hot, humid and unsettled. Days reach about 31°C, and rain falls on many days, often in heavy bursts. There's still sunshine, but clouds can build and the spray around the falls can blend into the rain.

The Victoria Falls rainforest is lush, but wet paths and mist can make viewpoints harder to enjoy. Go for a Zambezi sunset cruise when the skies clear; save a helicopter flight for a break in the clouds. March is also a poor time for clear, far-reaching views from the gorge.

International Women's Day is marked in Zimbabwe on 8 March. World Water Day falls on 22 March, though local events vary. Easter sometimes lands in March, so holiday crowds depend on the year.

If you hate crowds, March can suit you better than the busy dry-season months. It's part of the rainy, lower season, so visitor numbers and room prices are often lower than from May to July. The trade-off is less reliable sightseeing weather. February is rainier, while April is much drier.

Make the most of your visit

Travelling with kids? Keep the rainforest walk flexible, as slippery paths and thick spray can tire little legs. The Victoria Falls Bridge is another outing, but cloudy weather may hide the gorge views.

Carry a waterproof cover for your phone or camera before entering the rainforest trail beside the falls. Spray can soak your gear even when the rain has stopped. If you want a clearer look at the famous cascades, March isn't the surest month; May to July usually brings better overall conditions.
