June is dry, sunny and comfortable for exploring Victoria Falls. Days reach 27°C, while evenings can cool to 11°C, so the change is noticeable when you leave the warm afternoon behind. Rain is rare, and clear skies make it a good month for walking the paths through Victoria Falls rainforest.

The Zambezi is dropping after the wet season, so the spray is less overwhelming than earlier in the year. You can often see more of the rock face and gorge, though the falls won't look as full. Take care on the viewpoints: paths can still be slippery from spray near the main falls.

What to do

Spend time at the Zimbabwe-side viewpoints, then visit the Victoria Falls Bridge for its gorge views. June also suits a Zambezi sunset cruise. If you're interested in white-water rafting, ask local operators about current river conditions and which rapids are running.

If you want to swim at Devil's Pool, June isn't the time: it's generally open later in the dry season, when water levels are lower.

Crowds and practical tips

June is part of the popular May-to-July travel season. Expect more visitors and higher prices than in the rainy months, though it's not a major holiday month in Zimbabwe. There isn't a widely known Victoria Falls festival that reliably falls in June.

If you hate crowds, visit the rainforest viewpoints early in the day, before tour groups arrive. The entry area is close to town, and you can walk between many central hotels and the falls entrance. For a drier view, keep moving along the paths rather than staying at the first lookout.
