Cool days for exploring

November feels crisp rather than cold, with afternoons around 16°C and evenings near 8°C. The air is often damp, and rain falls on about eight days, but there's usually enough dry daylight for a full day out. It's a good month for walking Osaka Castle Park, browsing Kuromon Market or taking the train to Minoo Falls.

Skip long, exposed walks when rain sets in; wet paths around Minoo can be slippery. Evenings cool quickly, so a warm bowl of kitsune udon in Umeda can feel especially welcome.

Autumn color and local holidays

Osaka's autumn leaves bring visitors to spots like Minoo Park and Osaka Castle Park, especially later in the month. Shichi-Go-San, a family shrine visit for children, is marked around November 15. You may see families in formal clothes at Sumiyoshi Taisha. November 23 is also Labor Thanksgiving Day, a public holiday.

If you hate crowds, go to Minoo on a weekday; the waterfall trail gets busy on autumn weekends.

Crowds and a useful route

November is one of Osaka's best months overall, so popular leaf-viewing spots can feel busier than in summer. Hotels may also cost more around peak foliage weekends than in quieter summer periods. The city's main sights are still manageable, but expect queues at popular restaurants and crowded trains on holiday days.

For Minoo, take the Hankyu train from Umeda to Minoh Station, then follow the signed walking route to the waterfall. The return walk takes time, so don't leave it until late: November's daylight is short, and the trail is more pleasant before dusk.
